Synopsis

World War III lasts only minutes, but in the wake of its biological and nuclear fallout, earth’s remaining inhabitants discover a new horror that proves to be even more ominous as the chemical aftermath mutates survivors into flesh-eating zombies.

Full Synopsis

Nuclear warheads with biological payloads detonate in cities all over the world.   The war lasts only minutes but in the aftermath of biological nuclear fallout, survivors find their planet changed forever and realize a horror more devastating than war itself. A chemical in the nuclear warheads is turning those within the blast radius into the walking dead.

After a relaxing week by the lake, Mark (John Carson), his wife Amber (Andrea Ramolo) and their daughter Emily (Deanna Wales) are returning to their home in the city.  Having no access to radio or television during their vacation, the little family is unaware of the tragedy that has befallen the city they call home.  When Mark turns on the car radio and learns of the devastation that awaits them, he knows he must do something to protect his family.

Dave (Danny Ticknovich) is also seeking help for his wife and daughter when he encounters Mark and his family at an abandoned store, where they have taken shelter.  While trying to save Dave’s family, they are joined by group of survivors who have managed to evade the effects of the warhead chemical.  Amongst these survivors are Keith (Steve Curtis), Shelley (Sandra Segovic) and Derek (Dwayne Moniz) who are also seeking asylum.  Ultimately, the zombies, obsessed by their ravenous desire for flesh, sniff out the survivors and attack, taking many victims.  Driven out from their safe haven the sanity of some within the group begins to erode.

In their quest for sanctuary, they encounter many more survivors and the living begins to grow in number.  Under Dave’s leadership, the survivors learn how to protect themselves and begin to fight back.

However, in this new world, nothing is safe for long.  Those that remain must watch as friends and family are transformed into an ungodly enemy, bloody flesh eating monsters that will stop at nothing until their food source runs out.

About the Filmmakers

DAVID J. FRANCIS (Writer/Director/Producer) loved storey-telling as child.  He could often be found creating comedies and horror stories and then recording them on his cassette player. Drawn to the stage, he was active in both high school and community theatre and even dabbled in stand-up comedy.

David fed his love of performing by studying theatre arts at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario and later at the University of Ottawa.

It was at the latter that David became a volunteer at the University’s television show TV Zoom.  David dedicated himself to the show often working up to seventy hours a week in addition to a holding down a full time job, a part time job and maintaining his full time university studies. Within two years David was producing, writing, hosting, shooting and editing the successful sketch comedy show. It was on this show that David met Amber Bowerman, his future wife and producing partner.

Eventually David and Amber moved to Toronto, where Dave immersed himself in the film industry. Through his involvement there, David was introduced to many individuals who shared his love of the horror genre and his interest in making a feature horror film.

It was then that David and Amber decided to make a horror film that would terrorizes audiences and conceived their first feature, Zombie Night.

AMBER L. FRANCIS (Co-Producer/Executive Producer) began acting in public school and modeled in her late teens.  However, she was always more interested in writing and her exceptionally poignant poetry is one of the first visuals to be seen in any movie Primal Films produces.

Amber met David J. Francis at TV Zoom, where she volunteered at the University of Ottawa’s sketch comedy show. Amber’s management skills equaled her acting talents and within one year, she progressed quickly up the ranks to Production Coordinator and co-host with David. The two had chemistry that no one could deny and were inseparable on and off set.

After the couple moved to Toronto, they decided to pursue their dream of making a feature horror film. So they cleaned out their bank accounts, maxed out their credit cards and created an instant cult classic with their first feature Zombie Night.
